Digital Lecture: EBM and COVID
/There has been a lot of medical EBM flying around on pubmed, the news, Facebook, and probably even TikTok. Often these papers have gone through a supposedly rigorous peer-review process, but in the interest of getting data to the practitioners, many of these papers have not been reviewed. Often times, practitioners read the abstract and conclusion and take that as gospel - but this is not the way to review literature.
Below you’ll find a JAMA article in a Series called “Users’ Guides to Medical Literature.” It’s great, read this article first. Attached at the bottom are several of the COVID articles that have gained prominence in the media in the last few weeks.
Take your time to read through them and use the approach from the JAMA article to critically appraise these articles.
