Take a look at the reading below to get a head start. Start with the 2014 ACC/AHA guidelines (it is lengthy, focus on sections #3 and #4) and the Cleveland Clinic review article. The MKSAP chapter on perioperative medicine is another great resource. If you are looking to for more, take a look at the CARP and METS trials for some interesting results.
