Journal Club: Quality Improvement in COPD

For our 10/23 Journal Club, will be joined by our very own Dr. M. Ahsan Zafar with Pulmonary/Critical Care to critically appraise:

• “Reliable adherence to a COPD care bundle mitigates system level failures and reduces COPD readmissions: a system redesign using improvement science”.

We encourage you to come with questions for Dr. Zafar. Not only is he the author, but the work from this paper was done at UC and continues in maintenance phase today.

The objectives are as follows:

1. Recognize the SQUIRE guidelines as a tool for assessing quality of improvement work

2. Understand that improvement work requires a combination of qualitative and quantitative data

3. Explain the difference between a process and outcome measure
